' Aashiqui ' which was a 1990 film, was a major hit due to its songs. It established its music directors Nadeem-Shravan and singer Kumar Sanu in Bollywood. This film starred Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal.

A few months back, there was buzz that the Bhatts are deciding to make a sequel of this film. And it was being planned that its sequel ' Aashiqui 2 ' would release on Valentine's Day next year due to its romance genre.

But due to new developments, there are some changes in their plan. The sequel of ' Aashiqui ' would be directed by Mohit Suri but it would not release on Valentine's Day next year because just after Valentine's Day i.e. on 15th February, Bhatt another flick ' Murder 3 ' is set to release.

They don't want to put competition to their own films by releasing two films together so they have changed the plan to release ' Aashiqui 2 ' on 14th February, 2013. When would they release it would be known soon.
