Bollywood filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, who has already won National Award, will now be reportedly conferred with an honorary Doctorate in Arts by Rai University from Ahmedabad. This honour is for appreciating his contribution to the Indian cinema and his women-centric movies.

Bhandarkar will be presented this award on Saturday on the occasion of this educational institute's annual convocation ceremony. The filmmaker said "I owe my success and recognition to the movies I have made and the whole team behind it. These recognitions are also a responsibility that push you to do better."
A spokesperson from Rai University stated "We want to honour the hard work and commitment of the director who hails from a middle class, non-filmy background and has carved a unique space for his genre of cinema through his sheer perseverance and focus,"
