In the original version ' Dabangg ', Malaika Arora Khan had performed the item number 'Munni badnaam hui', which was a huge hit. Now when its sequel ' Dabangg 2 ' is being shot, the actor Salman Khan wanted a new actress, who could perform the item number brilliantly.

Salman wanted the number to be done by Kareena Kapoor and hence when he personally talked to her on this issue and requested her to do the dance number; she eventually agreed to do it after some months of dilly-dallying over dates. She couldn't have said 'No' to Salman as both Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor are believed to be very close to the actor.

Originally a Marathi lavni song has been planned but post Kareena's 'Yes' to do the item number, the lavni has been dropped. Now a North Indian folk and western dance fusion is being planned. According to the source, such fusion has never been attempted before.

Music composers Sajid-Wajid are trying to make the item song for ' Dabangg 2 ' very different from everything that has come in the last two years post 'Munni Badnaam'. The song will be choreographed by Farah Khan in which Salman would also be seen dancing far more vigorously with Kareena than he did with Malaika in ' Dabangg '.
