Karan Johar and Akshay Kumar have finally announced the title of their much-awaited film based on the famous battle of Saragarhi. To be directed by Anurag Singh , the film will be called Kesari and will hit screens on Holi 2019. Akshay, who has previously worked with Johar in his home production, Brothers , will play the character of Havildar Ishar Singh in the movie, who led the British Indian contingent of 21 Sikhs of the 36th Sikhs in the battle of Saragarhi and fought to his death.

To announce the film and his association with Akshay Kumar , Karan Johar took to social media website Twitter and wrote, “Extremely excited to see this exceptional and brave story unfold!!! @akshaykumar #KESARI #Holi2019.”

Akshay too was very happy with the news. He wrote, “A film I’m extremely excited about personally and emotionally… #Kesari releasing Holi 2019.”

Before making the official announcement on 10th October, Johar teased the fans with his tweet. He tweeted, “Mega film announcement coming up….watch this space!!!”

Earlier, Salman Khan was also part of the film as a co-producer with Karan Johar but he bowed out from the project later.
