BollywoodMDB recently informed our readers that actor Ranveer Singh will be soon playing the role of Kapil Dev in the upcoming sports biopic. The former ace cricketer made India victorious in the 1983 World cup, making it a historic win. But, the former cricket champ does not seem excited about the film. Kapil Dev does not want the film featuring Ranveer Singh to be referred as his biopic. Instead, he opts calling it a film on the world cup win.
Ranveer Singh, Kapil DevIn a media statement, Kapil Dev said, “First of all, it is not a film on me. So, it is not my bio-pic. It is apparently a film on the 1983 World Cup. Not about me.” When exclaimed that he was an integral part of the series, he admitted it saying, “Yes, I was! But so was Sunil Gavaskar, Mohinder Amarnath and so many others. So, the film will probably be as much about them as me.”
He was asked about Ranveer Singh playing his part, to which he said, “I’ve no idea about that. All I know is that they’re making a film on the 1983 World Cup. I repeat, it’s not about me. And we’ve all been invited to be there in Mumbai for the formal announcement on 27 September. So, I guess all of us will be there.”
Ranveer Singh, on the other hand, will be next seen in Padmavati which has been scheduled to release on December 1, 2017, and Gully Boys directed by Zoya Akhtar starring Alia Bhatt.
