Veteran actress Jaya Bachchan will be honored with the prestigious Deenanath Mangeshkar Award this April. The actress will get the award from the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar on 24th April. Jaya will be given the Master Deenanath (Vishesh Puraskar) Award for her contribution to the Indian cinema and Indian theatre. The award function will be held on the death anniversary of Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar.

Making the announcement, the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar said that , she likes all films of Jaya Bachchan . She is very fond of all the Bachchan family. Bachchan family also is a very affectionate towards Lata Mangeshkar . Jaya who portrayed a rising playback singer in 'Abhimaan' by Hrishikesh Mukherjee which was modeled on Lata Mangeshkar .

Mangeshkar revealed that during the shoot of 'Abhimaan' , Jaya used to come for Mangeshkar's song recordings. She used to observe Mangeshkar's styles and gestures. She used them all in 'Abhimaan', said the queen of melody.

In the award ceremony famous singer Suresh Wadkar and well known actress Vandana Gupte will also receive the award for their contribution in the field of music and cinema respectively. The award consists of a memento and a cash prize of ` 1,01,001.
