The news of the 2012 smash hit ‘ Student Of the Year ’ aka ‘SOTY’s sequel is in the limelight since last year. Film director Karan Johar himself announced the news of making the sequel and confirmed that Tiger Shroff will be playing the male lead and it will be directed by Punit Malhotra . But if latest reports are to be believed, the makers have put the much-awaited sequel on the backburner.

In the last few months, Karan Johar has announced a string of new projects. His upcoming ventures include ‘ Brahmastra ’ with Alia Bhatt , Ranbir Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan . Alia and Ranbir will be sharing the screen for the first time. Another venture of KJo will be ‘ Kesari ’ starring Akshay Kumar but now there has been no news coming from Dharma Productions about the making of ‘ Student Of The Year 2 ’.

The first installment of SOTY was star-studded with actors like Alia Bhatt , Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra in the lead but this time only the male lead has been decided for the movie. As far as the female lead of the film is concerned, name of several star kids like Sridevi ’s daughter Jhanvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan , Disha Patani and Ananya Pandey did the rounds, but yet no female lead is finalized for the movie and it has also come to the news that director Punit Malhotra is reworking on the script and it is said that the movie is put on a halt or may be postponed.
