Kareena Kapoor was offered the role of the leading lady in the next flick of Ekta Kapoor and Karan Johar , which starred Emraan Hashmi . She was sent the script and apparently had liked it but she refused to work in the movie giving reason that she had date problem.

According to the grapevine, Emraan Hashmi was very disappointed by the refusal of Kareena as he wanted her to be cast opposite him. He had also arranged a special screening of his film ' Shanghai ' for the actress. And if grapevine is to be believed, she had liked the movie and was keen in working with Emraan Hashmi .

Emraan's upcoming film is to be directed by Akshay Roy and according to a source everyone thought that Kareena would fit in the role perfectly. The source was quoted saying, "Everyone thought Kareena would fit the bill. She was sent the script, which she liked, but she wasn't able to sort out her dates for the film."

Now, the role that was once offered to Kareena has gone to Deepika Padukone .
