Riding high on the success of her last release Padmaavat , actress Deepika Padukone was all set to begin her next film with award-winning director Vishal Bhardwaj . However, the project had to be put on the backburner owing to the poor health of her co-star Irrfan Khan who plays the male lead in the movie. Meanwhile, we hear that the diva has been approached to do a cameo role in NTR’s eponymous biopic. The same role was earlier offered to iconic actress Sridevi. But after her untimely demise, the makers were busy looking for an apt replacement.

According to reports, before going to Deepika Padukone , the makers had approached Vidya Balan for Basavatarakam’s role. “The makers are approaching Deepika Padukone for Sridevi ’s cameo role. NTR and Sridevi ’s combination was a big hit and they had many popular songs. It’s a short role and they feel that Deepika is perfect for it,” reveals a source.

Reportedly, seasoned Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal will play Nadendla Bhaskara Rao’s role in the movie.

The official announcement of the film has been made and the regular shooting is expected to begin soon in Hyderabad.
