Deepika Padukone's 'Deewani Mastani' song costume took six months to finalize

An aristocratic set was erected for shooting of the song "Deewani Mastani" in upcoming period-drama 'Bajirao Mastani' at Filmcity, Mumbai. The set was the recreation of Aaina Mahal of 'Mughal-E-Azam'. The song features the three lead actors Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Ranveer Singh, however the main focus of the track was on Deepika so it was essential for her to stand out of the crowd.

A source revealed that "As the song has been shot in Aaina Mahal, Sanjay didn't want the outfit's colour to overpower the set. The costume required a lot of layering and options were made in various colours like pink, red and gold. Eventually, Sanjay chose dhaani (a shade of green) as he felt it suited the setting,"
