Yesterday, news broke out that Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar have roped in Sonu Sood as the lead villain in Simmba . It is now officially confirmed that the actor will be seen as the antagonist opposite Ranveer Singh in the film. Inspired from 2015’s Telugu language film, Temper, Simmba will see Ranveer as the lead actor who will portray the role of a corrupt police officer who earns money in illegal ways. Sonu will play the role of a smuggler, which was originally played by Prakash Raj . This will be Sonu’s first-ever collaboration with Karan, Rohit and Ranveer. The 44-year-old actor has shown his acting skills in many Hindi and regional films but got a wide attention after playing the villainous Chhedi Singh in Dabangg opposite Salman Khan . And now, fans will see him portraying a yet another grey role.

The original film had two more characters in pivotal roles. While the female lead will be played by Sara Ali Khan , it is reported that Simmba will also feature Ajay Devgn as the honest police officer who tries to bring the corrupt one on the right path.

Jointly produced by Dharma Productions and Rohit Shetty Picturez Pvt Ltd, the film is yet to go on floors and will be released on 28th December 2018.
