Anurag Kashyap's 'Bombay Velvet' witnessed a poor opening at the box office on its very first day and never really took off since the day. The movie managed to fetch about 16.10 crores on its first weekend and now its five day total collection stands to Rs. 19.70 crore which is very disappointing for a big budget movie.
The Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma starrer has failed to pull the audiences to the theatres and has fallen flat at the box office. Directed and co-produced by Anurag Kashyap's 'Bombay Velvet' is based on Gyan Prakash's book 'Mumbai Fables' which discloses the love tale of a street fighter and an aspiring jazz singer.
