Beautiful and gorgeous Soha Ali Khan is a huge fan of Salman Rushdie's noted book ' Midnight's Children ' and when Deepa Mehta asked her to play a key role in the film, Soha could not believe in the fact that she will be a pivotal part of the film. Soha liked the character of Jamila in this book; Jamila who happens to be the sister of the lead character Saleem Sindi, the younger singer. When Deepa cast Soha for playing the role of Jamila in this film, Soha was on cloud nine.

In a recent interview Soha expressed that ,"I had already decided to be a part of this film. I thought that whether small or a big role, I would bag the role for sure. But I didn't know that Deepa would cast me in this film. I am really very glad to play the role of my favorite character. Jamila is young and beautiful. I just love her. She sings and dances so beautifully that everyone will love to see her."

Talking about the book she said," Midnight's Children is one of my favorite books. I find it very fascinating. It talks about India Pakistan clash, the fragmentation of India and the problems which the ruling party faced. It's really an interesting book and I would always refer it to the choosy readers."
