Now, it has been around two years since J Dey, a Mumbai crime-journalist with MiD DAY newspaper was murdered in broad daylight in Powai by two motorcycle-borne sharp shooters on June 11, 2011. The Bollywood director Apoorva Lakhia is going to bring the entire incident alive in the form of a movie titled 'Zanjeer 2.0'. The film is yet in its scripting stages.

A source revealed that Ram Charan Teja , the son of Southern superstar Chiranjeevi plays the lead in the film. The film talks about an oil mafia and the veteran Marathi actor Atul Kulkarni will render the character banked upon J Dey's life and he will be shown to have been killed in the similar manner. The movie showcases the gruelling murder of the journalist J Dey.

The director Apoorva Lakhia told to have slightly modifying the storyline and now it is based on the oil mafia. Atul Kulkarni will be seen as a crime-journalist Jaidev. The actor will be portrayed as a respected and honest journalist following the oil mafia. Lakhia makes a rationale behind considering J Dey's incident on-screen by saying that the filmmakers aimed at sustaining authenticity in the story to make it more real.
