Legendary Amitabh Bachchan is the face that represents India at several international platforms. The ace actor holds dignified reputation, as he is associated with number of charity events. Recently, he gripped prestige of being the guest of honour at a charity event organized by British Prime Minister, David Cameron's wife, Samantha Cameron.

The well-heeled event was organized behind the famous black door of 10, Downing Street, which is the official residence of British Prime Minister. The reception was held to line out the sixth anniversary of Leicester-based charity event, 'Silver Star'. It is the charity that campaigns to fight back the rising Diabetes disease through awareness and constant check-ups.

Amitabh Bachchan have been the close associate of 'Silver Star', as last year on occasion of his 70th birthday, they presented him with Mobile Diabetes Unit for the Mumbai city and named it as "Amitabh" on behalf of his support. The mobile unit traveled to the deprived areas, giving the pupils free diabetes test, also they provided free lifestyle and dietary advice. So far, 'Silver Star' have treated 35,000 people in UK and India.

At the recently held event, 'Silver Star' announced to launch their 5th mobile unit in Birmingham in West Midlands and 6th unit in Delhi, which will be named after Amitabh's late father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan .

Keith Vaz, MP, Founder Patron of 'Silver Star' said that the disease of Diabetes is growing at an alarming rate. According to the reports, currently there are 62 million Indians suffering from 2-types of Diabetes and by 2025, it is probed to rise by almost 100 million.

While addressing Amitabh, he said that the charity is privileged to get supported by the legend Amitabh Bachchan , as without his support, they would not have been able to get associated with India.

Amitabh Bachchan is in true terms the star of millennium and his participation in such noble causes is going to make him immortal, at least for another millennium!
