Action star Akshay Kumar has entertained the audience by offering new things every time. This time too, the Khiladi Kumar is planning the same. Akshay Kumar will next star in the film ' Rustom ' and the flick is set in the late 1950s. Penned by Vipul Rawal, co-produced by Cape of Good Films and Essel Vision, the movie ' Rustom ' will be helmed by debut director Tinu Suresh Desai .

' Rustom ' has its roots dipped in the real incidents and it's going to hit the screens on Independence Day weekend 2016. Shital Bhatia of Friday Filmworks stated "The film is set in the late 1950s and is a pure work of fiction. 'Rustom' is inspired from certain real life incidents that happened in the past and will be shot in India as well as in Britain," Bhatia further added that " Akshay Kumar 's character in 'Rustom' demands a completely new avatar. Ameira Punvani who is the costume designer has already begun work on Akshay's look. Though we can't reveal much, the role is something that he has never played before,"
