Even though Sidharth Malhotra ’s film career is going through a dark phase, he has some interesting films lined up for the next 2 years. Sid, who is prepping up for Captain Vikram Batra’s biopic, is reported to star in Ekta Kapoor ’s upcoming film. The project, which is tentatively titled Shotgun Shaadi, is based on groom-kidnapping that is prevalent in the North Indian state. Sidharth plays a unique character in what will be an edgy movie and will be seen portraying a thug, according to a daily.

A source revealed to the daily, "Sid plays a thug who abducts potential grooms and gets them forcefully married. He has started taking classes to master the Bihari diction"

A source had earlier said to a leading daily, "It’s a small town story with edgy characters. As soon as Ekta heard it she immediately reached out to Sidharth. She believes it’s a great role and a perfect film for them to come together. The film is expected to roll in a couple of months. The makers will begin the reccee soon and zero in on a leading lady."

Sid has worked with Ekta in 2014’s film Ek Villain and if everything goes as per plan, the upcoming film will mark their second collaboration. As far as female lead is concerned, Shraddha Kapoor ’s name is making the rounds, but no confirmation has been made yet.
