The superstar Abhishek Bachchan has reportedly announced as the first official brand ambassador of END7 campaign in India by the Global Network for Neglected Tropical Diseases. Bachchan, as the brand ambassador, will be raising awareness of the neglected tropical diseases (NTDs).

At present, India is on the verge of achieving control and elimination of five NTDs affecting 500 million people by the year 2020. During this campaign, Mr. Bachchan will play a crucial role of drawing attention to NTDs as health priority in India and will educate the masses regarding the impact of NTDs and the significance of complying with free NTD treatment programs. The actor will also be lending support to the national and state level policy makers in order to continue making the cost-effective investment in NTD programs. Abhishek Bachchan expressed his views on this by mentioning that "India represents 35% of the total global burden for NTDs, causing massive suffering among our poorest citizens. As a parent, I am deeply moved by the devastating toll of NTDs on children and I want to ensure that no Indian child has to suffer needlessly," The actor further added that "I am proud to serve as the END7 campaign's ambassador in India and hope that others will join me in ridding our country of these preventable diseases,"
