Rating: 3/5

One Line Review: Special 26 gives a picturesque wide view while successfully depicting the real life incident and presenting it in a natural way.

Positive Points: a powerful story base; detailed art direction; great performances for each role; straightforward way of direction.

Negative points: stretched scenes;loopholes in climax.

Plot: It is a story of a gang of 4 robbers lead by Ajay (Akshay Kumar) and P. k. Sharma (Anupam Kher) attempting robbery in the disguise of CBI officers. The gang conducts foolproof planned robberies in the houses of corrupt businessman and Politicians. They take away their Black money. In one such break-in, the gang includes a team of real cops to execute the robbery by misguiding them and vanish from under their nose. ASI officer Ranvir Singh (Jimmy Shergill) loses his job after being fooled by the gang. Ranvir swears to revenge for it and join hands with real CBI officer Wasim Khan (Manoj Bajpai). A strict officer, Wasim set a trap to catch the gang for their next burglary in Kolkata. When the gang reaches the decided place they find CBI already present in the shop. They held up the neighboring shop and fly away. Thus this attempt by the CBI fails. There is also a romantic track between Ajay and Priya (Kajal Aggarwal). Here, Ajay plans to leave this life of mugging and go away to stay happily with Priya. The gang plans their last robbery in the 'Zaveri Bazaar' of Mumbai. As their phones are tapped the CBI is well updated on their plans and again set a trap. This time Wasim goes to P. K. Sharma and threatens him to help the officers to catch the gang. P.K agrees and let the gang to conduct theft.

Will the gang ever succeed in their last attempt?

Will the CBI catch the gang?

Will Ajay and Priya will be successful to live happily ever after?

Direction And Other Technical Aspect: Neeraj Pandey, who last time entertained audience with 'A Wednesday' triumphs this time too to give a realistic vision to the movie. He finely lined the scenes. But still some scenes are dragged and extended in the movie. He should have done away with it. The camera work is apt and to the par. Dialogues are powerful.

Performance: Each character fits into its place.Akshay Kumar has cracked a challenging role yet looks impactful. Anupam Kher has given a splendid performance. Manoj Bajpai and Jimmy Shergill excellently executed their parts.Kajal Aggarwal is through with her part. Rajesh Sharma essaying Joginder and Kishore Kadam who has played Iqbal, the 2 mates among the four criminals have added to the drama. The scene where Wasim interacts with P.K. is a treat to watch.

Music: The song 'Mujh mein tu' sung by Akshay, played throughout the movie is worth enjoying. The Background score appropriately fits all action sequences.

Final Verdict: If you are someone interested in watching real life events filmed brilliantly in a reel story, just grab your nearest theatre.
