GOLMAAL 3, which is also known as (G 3), is a Hindi feature film which released on 5th November 2010. This is a comedy film which is released to bring smile and laughter on the faces of its audience on the eve of Diwali.
The director of this film is Rohit Shetty who began his debut film with action film titled as ZAMEEN which starred Ajay Devgan and Abhishek Bachchan. Thereafter Rohit directed a fun film titled as GOLMAAL which was liked by the masses and the film was very successful. Since GOLMAAL was a comedy film, and tasting the success of a comedy film, Rohit Shetty got inspiration and motivation to direct another film of comedy genre. He got the idea of making the sequel of GOLMAAL which resulted in GOLMAAL Returns. This film had almost the same cast (only a few actors were replaced ) and was once again a big hit (though this film was not as good as GOLMAAL ). However both films motivated Rohit and his teammates to make comedy films further. Thereafter Rohit directed another comedy film titled as All the Best which was once again very much appreciated by the audience and the film was a hit. Tasting success after success, Rohit was again inspired to direct a comedy film and this time he wanted to make a trilogy of GOLMAAL.
So GOLMAAL 3 is the trilogy of GOLMAAL which is also the first trilogy in Hindi cinema. The star cast in G 3 are almost the same who were in GOLMAAL and GOLMAAL RETURNS such as Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warshi, Tushaar Kapoor, Brijesh Hirjee etc. There were a few new stars roped in GOLMAAL 3 such as Kunal Khemu and Shreyas Talpade and the heroine of the film is Kareena Kapoor.
The story of the film is such:
Pritam (Mithun Chakraborty) had fallen in love with the one and only daughter Geeta (Ratna Shah) of Prem Chopra, but Prem Chopra doesn't approve their relation and objects them from getting them married to each other. But since it was not an easy task to keep them away from each other Prem Chopra makes one wicked plan according to which he sets a goal for Pritam. He asks him to earn 5 lakhs rupees in 6 months. He strictly tells him that if he failed to do so he would not be allowed to marry Geeta.
Prem Chopra's wicked plan works because Pritam is unable to earn 5 lakhs rupees in 6 months. Eventually Pritam loses Geeta and can't marry her due to the condition of her father.
Things change as time changes. Both settle somewhere with their spouse but after some years both of them coincidently meet each other in Goa. Geeta is a mother of Gopal (Ajay Devgan) and Laxman (Shreyas Talpade) whereas Pritam has three sons named as Madhav (Arshad Warshi), Lucky (Tushaar Kapoor) and Laxman (Kunal Khemu).
Gopal is an innocent guy and soft hearted and loves his mother too much. But he is a bit short tempered and loses his temper if anyone shows him finger. He even breaks the fingers shown to him. He gets angry on trivial matters. Dabbo (Kareena Kapoor) is her friend and Gopal with the help of Laxman (Shreyas Talpade) and Daboo keeps trying different business but they don't get success in any business. Whereas Pritam's sons want to earn money either by hook or by crook. But their trouble starts when they borrow loan from Pappu (Johny Lever) because he is different kind of person. Pritam's sons start business against Gopal and Laxman.
Gopal and his brother as well as Daboo don't like this. Eventually war begins between both the parties (families) except their parents. Pritam and Geeta don't want their sons to fight with the other family hence they come to intervene and confront each other. They want to settle the matter between their sons but it's not an easy task.
So what is going to happen? Would Pritam and Geeta get success in settling the matter? What would their sons do if they would know that their parents loved each other? These are the answers which make the rest of the film.
Performance wise Johny Lever has almost stolen the show. He has played the role of absent minded and scatterbrained thief. He has done his job brilliantly and once again proved that no one can match him when it comes to comedy. In some of his last films he didn't get appropriate roles where he could make people laugh. But he has succeeded here in tickling your ribs and make you laugh.
Kareen Kapoor looks better in this film than her previous films and has also justified her role.
Tusshar Kapoor once again plays the role of a dumb character Lucky and he is excellent in his role. He has proved that he is one of the finest actors in his age group. However in GOLMAAL he had given his best performance as a dumb character for which he had received some awards too. His character in this film can be loved by all. It is really very difficult task to express your feeling through sign languages. Tushaar is brave to accept such challenge every time in Rohit Shetty's film.
Ajay Devgan has sharpened his skills as an actor. He was good in his successful film ONCE UPON A TIME and he is very good in GOLMAAL 3. He has justified his role very brilliantly.
Shreyas Taldpede too is emerging as a good actor which you can see in this film. He is labouring hard to improve his skills which is the reason many other producers and directors are planning to cast him in their films.
Arshad Warshi does his best in comic roles which you can feel by watching this movie. He is as good as he was in MUNNA BHAI MBBS.
Mithun Chakraborty has got some nice footage in this film and he has done his part very well. Ratna Shah has also done her part well.
This film is inspired by films like KHATTA MEETHA, HAMARE TUMHARE and YOURS, MINE AND OURS (KHATTA MEETHA starred Ashok Kumar which was released in the year 1978; HAMARE TUMHARE, directed by Umesh Mehra which starred Sanjeev Kumar & Rakhee and YOURS, MINE AND OURS was a a Hollywood film). Despite taking inspiration from the above mentioned films, the writers have tried to give some fresh elements in the film. The writing of the film (by Yunus Sajawal, Bunty) is good and entertaining. However some sequences are without logics which can be ignored in comedy films.
Music could have been better. Only the title song is good and the other songs are average. However the choreographer has done good job in choreographing the songs.
Dudley, the DOP too has done his job very efficiently. He needs appreciation for capturing many scenes which leaves great impact on the audiences. Dudley had done his job well in the film ALL THE BEST but in this film he has done excellent job.
As a director, Rohit Shetty gives full freedom to his actors to improvise their scenes which can be felt by watching his movies. May be, this could be the reason why all his actors have presented something new to you. Despite interest in directing action films Rohit Shetty has directed all his previous comedy films very well and in this film he is superb. Rohit has made his position so strong that if you talk about comedy directors like David Dhawan, Priyadarshan etc you would also talk about him. He is not even a bit less than these famous comedy directors. Since he loves making action he doesn't forget to insert some action scenes even in his fun movies. This is the reason why you get to see some cars being blown to smithereens in almost all his films.
Some action and stunt scenes shot in this film (in the sea) are superb.
GOLMAAL 3 is a movie which is full of humor and which has the capacity to entertain you a lot and make you smile and laugh (provided you don't find logic in some sequences. If you want to get rid of stress for a few hours you should go for it with your family and friends because this film is made also for your family. It's worth watching!
