Rating: 3.5/5

One Line Review: A delicious Delhi joyride well-infused with comedy spotlighting on bromance.

Positive Points: Amazing character performances, fresh storyline, crunchy dialogues, perfect comic timing, tuneful music.

Negative Points: Lacks realism in certain points.

Plot: The movie starts with two fun-loving buddies, Vikas Gulati aka Hunny (Pulkit Samrat) and Dilip Singh aka Choocha (Varun Sharma). Hunny and Choocha are not at all brightest of students. Both these friends want to get into college by hook or crook, not for attaining grades but just to woo the girls. These two friends always keep on playing a weird lottery game in which Choocha sees a dream at night and the next day Hunny instantly decodes it into some numbers. Based on these numbers, this duo keeps on winning the lottery. Lali (Manjot Singh) is studying a correspondence course. However, Lali yearns to step into University to experience the real college life. Zafar (Ali Fazal) keeps on strolling in college campus even after his graduation accompanied with his guitar and song. Zafar has some blurred music ambitions, out of them which he tries to make his music career. Neetu Singh (Vishakha Singh) is the love interest of Zafar, but Zafar's career make Neetu and Zafar go through bad phase of their love life.

A time arrives, when all the four boys crave for a huge amount of money. Hunny and Choocha need money to snatch leaked question papers. Lali desires big funds to achieve a donation seat in the University, while Zafar requires money for the treatment of his ailing father. All four of them meet together at certain point of time and decide to generate the money through lottery. In the other words, the dreams of Choocha turn into success formula for these four youngsters. But, they desire a person, who will make huge investment on these profitable dreams to ensure bigger returns. For this purpose, they somehow get into meeting Bholi Punjaban. She is the 'bindaas' girl, who loves playing with illegal things. Bholi Punjaban finally agrees to put money on Choocha's dreams.

Will these four boys play this 'jugaad' successfully or Bholi Punjaban will make them dance to her tunes?

Direction And Other Technical Aspects: After making directorial debut in '3 Thay Bhai', this time the director Mrigdeep Singh Lamba has come up with a fresh and promising group of friends, who seek ways of making fast money, but a chaos incepts out of all hit and miss things done by these friends and situation turns in a haphazard way. The fresh faces featuring in this movie give an extra edge to it alongside an inventive storyline. Though the film does not directly aims at comedy genre, it oozes humor in a brilliant way through crunchy dialogues and events. The first half of the film targets at introduction of the characters and their nature and it serves the purpose well. The second half is when the actual things start happening by showing madness of the four youngsters and describe how their dreams go haywire and invite chaos for them.

The film greatly provides a base for logic and thus prevents it from venturing into fantasy region. The director has captured the essence of Delhi in a beautiful way. Almost all the characters built by the director greatly leave their impression on one's mind. The only flaw noticed that the behavior of Zafar, whose ailing father is hospitalized. It is hard to digest the fact that Zafar remains extremely calm in this situation and goes on following risky game of dreams and lottery, instead of making the other practical attempts to gather money. However, the overall storyline and flow of the film effortlessly camouflage this flaw. One can say that 'Fukrey' refreshes memories of earlier hit films like '3 Idiots' and 'Dil Chahta Hai' for bromance and 'Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!' for hardcore Punjabi flavor. The camerawork is worth admiration. Background score mixes well with the storyline.

Performance: The character performances of all in this movie are excellent including the kleptomaniac person in the image of a drunkard. Debutant Pulkit Samrat shows his confidence and plays his character with great smoothness. Varun Sharma, who is also a debutant makes one forget that this is his first film due to his perfect comic timing. He forms the funniest character in the entire film and steals the show making one memorize of Kunaal Roy Kapur. Manjot Singh performs very well, however his character resembles a lot with the one he played in 'Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!'.

Richa Chadda shines excellently as lady don and leaves a great impression by her quirky punchlines, which suits well to her role. One can say she designs a great female villain in this male-centered flick. Ali Fazal nicely portrays the character of a simple and sober person, who is confused with his career and messy love life. Priya Anand plays her part convincingly as modest Delhi girl.

Music: The music is composed by Ram Sampath. The tracks like 'Fuk Fuk Fukrey' and 'Jugaad Karle' gel smoothly with the flow of story. 'Ambarsariya' track makes one remember it for its notable composition. The music and lyrics assist in boosting up the humor quotient.

Final Verdict: A highly entertaining light-hearted comic caper filled with powerful performances. An ideal laughter riot to watch this weekend along with your loved ones.
