Chance Pe Dance Review

Chance Pe Dance is a film directed by the director Ken Ghosh who had earlier directed films like Ishq Vishq and Fida. It seems that he has good rapport with Sahid Kapoor that's why he repeated him in his film again. But this film is not up to the mark. Due to poor script it fails to impress the audience. It doesn't have the power to entertain the audience.

Sameer (Sahid Kapoor) covets to become an actor in Bollywood. He is very ambitious and lives in Delhi where he refused to work in his father's shop, and like many strugglers, he too comes to Mumbai to make a place in film industry but he doesn't get any chance. He has to struggle a lot but he doesn't get success till the end. In the end too he doesn't get a chance in movies, he just wins a reality show.

Well! There is something more to tell about Sameer's role. After three years of struggle, Sameer finally gets a lead role by Rajiv in a dance based film. But after sometime, things take place in different way and his landlord throws him out of his house. Sameer has no money to get even good meal, so how could he get eight pack abs in absence of food lacking protein etc. The reason should have been justified. Genelia joins Sahid in his struggle as a choreographer after they meet each other during one of the auditions of Sameer. She is too good in her role but the film has nothing to offer her special. So her talent too gets wasted. However Sahid and Genelia look cute couple on the screen.

The film is below average. It could have been a very nice film. But due to poor script there is nothing new to watch except the beauty of Genelia and performance of Sahid Kapoor.

Sahid Kapoor steals the show but of no use. His performance gets wasted due to a bad film.

Performance wise everyone is good. But it seems Parikshi Shahini is getting typed to do such roles.

Ken Ghosh earlier showed that he has good sense of music, but surprisingly, this film doesn't have any good music. Despite being a dance based film, there lacks dance songs. Though a few individual scenes he has filmed are good but that is not sufficient to impress the audience when they spend so much money and time to watch your film. It also seems that the director has put all his effort on filming the songs only because you could feel a great difference while watching the songs and rest of the film.

Adnan Sami's music is just above average. A film which is based on dance, as the title suggests, needs some mind blowing musical songs, which could last in your memory for long, but so is not case here. There are four music directors who have given the music of this film but surprisingly, none could leave lasting effect in your mind.

However Ahmed Khan and Marty Kudelka's choreography is excellent.

Sahid has danced well and his body looks good but had he used these features in good story he could have bagged award.

The character of Rajeev Sharma (Mohnish Behl) is very confusing and contradictory. He spots Sameer at a club and signs him for his next film in the lead role but some days later, without any specific reason, he breaks his promise. And God knows why he reacts like that when Sameer wins the reality show! Besides God, only the writer and the director might know its reasons.

When Rajiv breaks his promise to give Sameer a good role in his film, Sameer gets disillusioned. At this point Tina (Genelia) encourages and inspires him to try his luck in a TV reality show. A heart broken and dejected Sameer when comes to know that the winner of the reality show would get the same role that he was to play, he gets motivated and puts his all effort to win the show. Ken Ghosh could have treated the story in a different way because it had enough scope to create humour, but what the director gives you is something which would note make you laugh but you would laugh at it.

There are some things which you can't understand. There is a reality show but you can hardly see any other contestant. If you have seen Aamir Khan's Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander, when Aamir and his team participate in dance competition, so many other team too dance. After that when Aamir's team wins the competition, it looks very effective and justified. Similarly you could have seen in an old film Hum Kissi Se Kum Nahin, a dance competition filmed on the famous song Chand Mera Dil, Chandini Ho Tum. On that song and in that dance competition, both the contestants are shown dancing and challenging each other. But here none!

Now-a-days even good scripts are written for TV reality shows but here good scripting lacks even in that part. The part of the script, Sahid taking part in reality show is not written in effective way.

Ken Ghosh has also failed in this film as a director because he forgot to present a film in reasonable manner. In the beginning the way song pops in has no meaning. No one can guess the reason why titles are given after the first song is over. It's neither a way to start any films nor to give the credits in this manner.

You have seen such films umpteen times and Ken Ghosh gives you nothing new in this film except a too predictable story. Sometimes it becomes so predictable and boring that you feel like sleeping. This film isn't worth watching except the beauty of Genelia and Sahid's dancing skills. If you are a diehard fan of Sahid Kapoor, go for it! Even you don't like the film, you would like Sahid's dance because he is too good in that.
