AISHA is a heroine oriented film which revolves around the character AISHA, which is played by Sonam Kapoor (daughter of Star Anil Kapoor). This film has been produced under the banner Anil Kapoor Films Company and PVR Pictures. The producers of this film are Anil Kapoor, Ajay Bijli, Sanjay Bijli and Rhea Kapoor. This film is directed by Rajshree Ojha.

The casts of the film are Abhay Deol, Sonam Kapoor, Ira Dubey, Cyrus Shahukar, Arunoday Singh, Amrita Puri, Lisa Haydon, Yuri Suri, M K Raina, Anand Tiwari, Sameer Malhotra, Anuradha Patel, Masood Akhtar, Vidushi Mehra etc.

This film is actually based on the novel EMMA written by Jen Austin. This novel was written almost 200 years back. So it would have been really a tough task to convert it into a feature film of this age.  But in the past, films are made on this novel many times, so those films must have made the writer and director's task easy to convert this novel into film.

The writer and the director have succeeded to some extent in converting the novel into Indian feature film and in the present scenario. This needed a lot of changes but the soul of the novel and film remains the same.

The story of this film is such:

AISHA (Sonam Kapoor) lives in Delhi. She wants to make her life adventurous. As her hobby she takes up the job to match marriages. She interferes in others matter a lot. Her problem is that she wants everyone to dance on her tunes; she makes others business her business.
Pinky is her best friend who is caught in her web; Shefali (Amrita Puri), Randhir and Dhruv etc are some people who are also caught in her web.

Shefali is middle class girl, and AISHA tries to pair her and Randhir (Cyrus Shahukar) and arrange their marriage. She takes help of her friend Pinky (Ira Dubey) to implement her plan but doesn't succeed. Since Shafali is a simple girl, AISHA tries to change her looks so that Randhir could get attracted towards her and get ready to marry her. So she changes the simple girl Shefali in a modern, fashionable and hot girl.  But opposite to her expectation Randhir doesn't get attracted towards Shefali and he proposes AISHA instead of Shefali. AISHA rejects his proposal.

In this manner, AISHA tries to pair other people also but she fails almost all the times. Her friends or known people don't like her behaviour, and thus all keep aloof from her.  Eventually, at the end she realizes that pairs are made in heaven and people can't force anyone to become pair and get married. Her character is such that she finds herself lonely in the end.

The novel has not been successfully converted into a film. Emotions are not expressed well. Most of the characters seem confused in the matter of love.

Arjun (Abhay Deol) is the hero of the film who has simpler set of beliefs.
From the very outset, AISHA and Arjun keep quarrelling till the end of the film which is irritating.

Finally, in the end AISHA realizes that she loved Arjun, and thus accepts his love or does she accept his love because she had no other option. Well, you have to keep guessing that.

The film is to some extent lengthy. Screenplay is slow; it could have been fast and short. The story moves ahead very slowly.

The characters are not common people, but all the characters represent those categories who have lots of money; who attend parties, beauty parlor, fashion shows etc. They are involved in gossiping, styling etc.

Since AISHA has no other job to do, she keeps looking for people so that she could arrange their marriage.

This film has shown high-fi life in well manner.

The director of the film Rajshree Ojha has given more attention to styling instead of scripting. If she would have worked on script for some more time, she could have given us a better film.

However, she has made all the actors to perform well.  All the characters are presented well.

This film can be said to be good in terms of styling. People who are fond of styling will enjoy it.

Costumes department has done its job well. Pernia Qureshi and Kunal Rawal should be appreciated for it.

Music of the film is also not bad. Some tracks of the music director Amit Trivedi are good.  The lyricist Javed Akhtar has written some nice songs.

The cinematography by Diego Rodriguez is also up to the mark and gives rich look to the film.

The dialogues are also okay.

Sonam Kapoor has performed her part very well. The film is totally based on her so she has got very large footage.

Abhay Deol has got less footage, yet he is good and has justified his role.

Other actors too are up to the mark.

Despite everything good, there are many drawbacks in the film. Post interval, the film progresses at a very slow speed which would bore you and make you impatient. Many scenes are extended unnecessarily which may irritate you.  The screenplay writer Devika Bhagat has not taken care of it.

The makers have made a hi-fi movie but they should have given enough space for entertainment. Instead of entertaining, the film irritates you at many places.

In Indian films, people don't like characters like AISHA. Though the novel may be good and its earlier version in different languages might have got success but it doesn't seem that this film would get enough revenue or success. The producers and the director have chosen everything good; except a good script which would work with Indian audience. This film may work overseas but may not work in home country.

However the film is not bad. It doesn't contain brutal moments. It has many light moments so if you don't have anything to do and have money to spend on movies, you can go for it otherwise stay at home and wait for its satellite release.
