Rating: 2.5/5

One Line Review: Three friends setting out to discover the real world of paranormal at the 'darkest hour' realize their mistake, albeit too late.

Positive Points: Showcases the paranormal in a new light; Rannvijay's strong performance.

Negative Points: Some typical horror clichs; story ends abruptly; not so impressive performances by co-actors.

Plot: Sunny (Rannvijay Singh) is a television show host, with a successful career, supported by his two best buddies Raj (Kavin Dave) and Cyrus (Salil Acharya). He is also deeply in love with a wonderful girl Sarah (Anindita Nayar), with whom he is soon going to tie the knot.

One fine evening, Sarah is called to an allegedly haunted location in the center of the city "Rudra Mills" to shoot for a scary show. However, when everything has been going fine, Sunny receives news of Sarah's death. Sunny is now devastated and spends a lot of time alone, mourning for her loss.

However, he has partially recovered when he meets Raj and Cyrus and communicates his idea of doing a horror show that will explore the world of paranormal. And surprisingly, he chooses the same haunted location of Rudra Mills for his new show. It is sanctioned by Mr. Dave, his boss and no sooner they hit the location for shooting.

However, as time flies by, they realize that they have made the biggest mistake of their lives and now they must give up and run. However, in the pursuit capturing the paranormal on camera, they have risked their lives and have come to a point of no return.

Direction And Other Technical Aspects: Unlike the recent scary movies released in Bollywood, this one has taken a different approach to showcase the paranormal. The scenes have been put well so that they can give you a chill down the spine. However, they are not good enough to give better scares to audiences who had anticipated for something more.

Cinematography is both real time and movie oriented, and works really well in tandem with the film's direction. However, this too falls short after a certain extent.

Music: "Raet Ki Tarah", "Teri Adaaon Mein" and "Tera Shukriya" are love tracks worth listening in the midst of a horror movie, thanks to singers Rajat, Wajhi and Mustafa Zahid.

Performances: Rannvijay Singh has put up an impressive and strong performance in his role as an independent young guy who is a go-getter. He succeeds to convince the audiences that he is the protagonist for sure and is calling the shots till the end.

Kavin Dave is a good sidekick and carries on with that small humor really well.

Salil Acharya, who is doing another sidekick role, provides a strong support to the concept of team that is set to discover the paranormal.

Anindita Nayar is surely an eye candy, but performance wise, is a bummer.

Final verdict: '3 A.M.' is one of those horror films that promise better in the trailers, but don't succeed in the actual game. Though the movies is not that bad and may give you some scares, for those who are into real horror, this movie is just a one time watch and deserves only two and a half stars.
