Raghu (Sanjay Dutt) the son of Namdeo and Shanta (Shivaji Satam and Reema Lagoo) has not got through high school while his younger brother Vijay (Mohnish Behl) has completed his graduation. Namdeo gives Raghu money to start a food stall. Raghu starts earning a decent living until one day, he and his friends get into a fight with a gangster's brother. In the fight, the gangster's brother is killed by Raghu. Fracture Bandya the gangster is determined to kill Raghu but Vitthal Kanya, a rival, takes Raghu under his wing. Raghu slowly rises in the underworld. He meets Sonu (Namrata Shirodkar) a prostitute and in due course marries her. After killing the fracture gang, Raghu becomes one of the biggest gangsters in the underworld. He loses the love of his parents. Babanrao Kadam, the Home Minister, uses Raghu to do his dirty work and gives him political shelter. When Babanrao's involvement in crime starts making headlines in the media, he issues an order to the police to kill Raghu in an encounter.
