Crook Plot

Jai, the main character of the movie, always gets into trouble for some or the reason.  It's like he's surrounded by it. His father, a gangster was tired of living the way he did till now. He wanted to reform. He wanted to change his ways and live a normal, respectful and decent life for which he asked for help from his dear friend Inspector Joseph. Joseph assured him of helping him in leading a better life and that he would find a safe place for him and his son to live in if he, i.e. Jai's father, agreed to play a pawn on behalf of the cops and provide him with vital information regarding their evil doing thereby betraying his bosses. Joseph promised him of a good and safe life once his bosses were exposed.

But as fate would have it Jai's father was double crossed by a senior inspector even after he testified against his bosses.  Joseph could not save Jai's father despite of his brave efforts. Unfortunately, Jai witnessed all this and it etched a bad impression on his mind, making him believe that it was useless even trying to be good and being Bad only is Good.

Feeling guilty of whatever happened to Jai's father, Joseph decides to adopt Jai and take care of him. He tries to instill in him Christian values and bring him closer to God but Jai is haunted by the past. Joseph fails in making Jai believe in 'Good' i.e. doing good. Joseph arranged for a different identity for Jay as Suraj Bhardwaj, when things with his fluctuating criminal life went out of hands and decided to send him to far away from his dark past, to Australia.

Jai promised Joseph that he would try and not get into trouble after he moved to Australia. It was his first chance to see life on the other side. As soon as he landed in Australia he met Suhani. Suhani was an Indian Australian who saw the world as one, a good world where bad never existed. She belonged to the clan of Punjabi family typically conservative and traditional and took pride in the fact that they are Indians. While Suhani secretly, had a completely opposite outlook on life. She was convinced she did not want to feel limited by the already established traditions, superstitions or orthodox behaviors and thinking. Samarth, her elder brother, was totally confident that the Australians wanted nothing else than to bring Indians down. He was completely different from Suhani in thoughts.

In Australia, Jai lived with the 'happy go lucky Sardars' the bumbling punju boys GoldE and the gang. The boys totally believed that getting a permanent residency in Australia is their ticket to heaven. GoldE arranged for a job for Jai in Samarth's garage as a taxi driver. GoldE also warned Jai, just like Joseph, to steer clear of trouble and focus on work.

Suhani felt intrigued by Jai's mannerisms. He was a flirt, a liar and very conniving but he did it all with ease and style. She felt he was pure at heart. She felt that he was more than what she showed, that there was something deeper to his personality than even he acknowledged to himself.

Jai was with suhani as he felt that if he made her fall in love with him he could get that ticket to heaven – the permanent residency. The only obstacle in his entire plan was Samarth, her brother.  So Jai continued making plans to gain Suhani's love but at the same time he was flirting with Nicole. Nicole was a stripper from a strip club nearby but the problems with her as well was her brother, Russel.


But trouble didn't leave Jai even after he ran so far from it. He was a witness to the racial attack on Samarth. He felt in a fix as, if he went to the cops his credentials would have been investigated and if he went away he would lose Suhani. The very reason why he left India was to live a life without much hassle but found himself in the midst of racial attacks. Jai's hardships increased as the racial attacks gained momentum. The only way to deal with this situation was to face it. He was at an intersection between good and bad. He had no other option to find whether it was actually 'good to be bad'?
