Why reaching thirty is so scary? Someone said, "The only time you actually live entirely is from 30 to 60.The young are slaves of dreams and ambitions and old are sad and ill. Only middle age is the age where all 5 séances are in full swing of action." Still people get unset particularly women, for them it is a nightmare. Because, some frightful things come as they reach 30. The skin shrinks; tightness and firmness of the skin start missing. The glow starts fading etc. Turning 30 is directed by Prakash Jha's long time assistant, debutante Alankrita Shrivastava. He focuses on a working woman living in metropolis and how she feels when a relationship fails and how she recovers herself on her 31st birthday. Cast & Crew: Director-Alankrita Shrivastva; Music-Siddhartha Das; Starring- Gul pang, Purab Kohli, Sid makkar Story: Turning 30 is Naina's (Gul Panag) story; how she faces heartbreak and crises in her advertising carrier on her 30th birthday. How she fights her anxiety and fears about being 30 years old. At the end how Naina realizes that there is lot of growing up to be done. Naina's (Gul Panag) life is just about perfect as she is about to turn 30, with steady boyfriend Rishabh (Siddhartha Makkar) and a good job in advertising. But her life takes drastic turn as Rishabh breaks up with her and decides to marry with high profile girl, Ritu. At the same time her job is in danger because of one failed campaign. On her 30th birthday, she is "man less" and "jobless". She meets Jai (Purab Kohli), her ex-boyfriend from college. She gets involved in physical relationship with him but she cannot forget Rishabh. She understands that she still loves him. Whom she eventually chooses and what happens to her job is the climax. Performance: Gul Pang has acted well. Her performance and expressions are good and she grabs the film. Purab Kohali does very well and Siddhartha is also okay in his role. All other characters give justice to their roles. Conclusion: On the whole, Turning 30 is an average film. In many respects it misses the mark. Verdict: It is not a bad film yet not so important to watch. You can go for it only you don't have anything to do.
