Story
It is a romantic thriller in which a wannabe filmmaker Sachin Kulkarni from Mumbai falls in love with Jesse , a girl who hails from an orthodox Christian family and whose family would never approve Sachin for their daughter.Jesse too does not want to involve any romantic relationship with Sachin and wants to stay as friends with him. Now, Sachin has to convince both Jesse and her family.
And that is when Sachin happens to see a girl named Jessie. It is clearly visible that it is nothing but love at first sight for him. Jessie is a good looking girl; she is pleasing to the eye; she is smart and sexy. However, she is not that simple. She belongs to an orthodox Malayali Christian family where there is very strict limitations to watch movies, to go to party at night or to fall in love with somebody.
At the time when Sachin fights with the idea of loving someone like Jessie and her family living in twenty first century, modern Mumbai-he discovers himself more and more drawn to Jessie. She, for her part, tries to form a friendship between them because she believes that covering their emotions and feelings under the shadow of friendship will protect both of them from many troubles such as heartache, tears and a full blown family drama.
EK DEEWANA THA is the forceful, still feel good love romance film story of these two diverse characters because they understand the paroxysm and enjoyment of 1st love while fighting with the circumstances that life has placed them in making Sachin question all the time-Of all the persons on this planet and he thinks why did he ever fall in love with that girl?

EKK DEEWANA THA is a Hindi feature film which released on 17th February, 2012. It is the Hindi remake of Tamil movie VINNAITHAANDI VARUVAAYAA, and Telugu Movie - YE MAAYA CHESAVE by the same director- Gautham Menon.Story : Sachin (Prateik Babbar) is a young guy who is very fond of films and wants to become a film maker, film director etc. He falls in love with a girl Jessie (Amy Jackson), whose parents or religion doesn't allow her to watch movies because her parents are from orthodox Malayali Christian background. Though Sachin is BE graduate from Mumbai, he wants to become a film director whereas the nature of Jessie is totally opposite. However they fall in love with each other. Will they get married to each other? Will their love story become successful?? These are the questions which are answered in this romantic thriller.Acting : Though Prateik Babbar has potential and can do well, he fails to justify his character here. His performance is weak and not as powerful as he did in DHOBI GHAT. Amy is okay. Others are average.Script : Its screenplay was fast and good in Tamil and Telgu but here it is very slow and boring. People get disappointed to watch what's going on the screen. It's not gripping despite being thriller, though romantic thriller.Music : Though music has been given by A.R.Rehman, it is not up to the mark. You can't listen to the songs repeatedly.Cinematography is good.Direction : This is the 2nd Hindi film of the director Gautham Menon; the previous one being REHNA HA TERE DL MEIN. But the director, who gave such a big hit of the same film in Tamil & Telgu fails to impress you here. There are many loopholes in the script in the script and direction. Casting and characterization are also not perfect. Conclusion : This film proves that all films of South or of Tamil & Telgu are not going to work in Hindi film industry. It may not earn good revenue. It may not even reach break even point in terms of revenue.Plus Points : GenreMinus Points : Script; Music; PerformanceVerdict : You may watch it to boost Prateik Babbar's moral otherwise it is not worth watching in theatres until and unless you have extra time and money to spend.
