I thoroughly enjoyed your new music video, "Tera Hi Naam." I am sure you must have had great fun while shooting it.

It was an incredible experience to work on "Tera Hi Naam". The team bonded so well that we did not even realise how quickly three full days of outdoor shooting went by. It is a light, breezy romantic number and the shoot was also very effortless and smooth.

What do you have to say about the kind of response it has garnered on YouTube?

The song has been released by Big Shots Music and is being liked by the audience. I have got numerous messages on my social media portals about how much they are able to relate to Tera Hi Naam. People have started posting reels as well, which is a lot of fun.

Tell me how you came onboard for the music video?

The music video has been directed by Deepak Chaudhary, who has worked with me on two of my previous projects. He was simultaneously directing 2 songs under his home production and gave me the option to choose the one I liked. So, I chose "Tera Hi Naam" and came onboard.

Where did you shoot the song?

The song was shot at different indoor and outdoor locations in and around Mumbai.

What do you enjoy most about being featured in music videos?

Music videos give you instant gratification and fame. The process is shorter in terms of time and effort as compared to a film or web series, but the reach is much wider. This is my third music video after "Bedard" and "Bin Tere." I enjoy doing music videos.

Do you think music videos help an actor establish an instant connect with their fans?

Absolutely. The audience's attention span is so short nowadays that they generally don't have the patience to watch longer videos. A 5-minute song establishes an instant connection and stays in the minds of listeners.

When did you know you wanted to be an actor?

During my formative years, I realised that I wanted to be an actor, but my family wouldn't have understood the aspiration. My father was a college principal, and he wanted me to be a CA. Hence, I completed my post-graduation before venturing into full time acting.

Apart from acting, what else are you passionate about?

I am equally passionate about singing as well. As a child, I was a really good singer, but I haven't been able to devote time to practising music due to my hectic shooting schedules. But deep down, I want to record my own music album and also feature in it someday.

How did your parents react when you told them you wanted to pursue acting as a career?

Honestly, I didn't tell them for a very long time that I had switched to full-time acting. I live in Mumbai and my parents are in a different city. They kept on thinking that I was in my corporate job until I shared my work one day with them and confessed that I had quit my job a few years back. They weren't upset but were a bit concerned about how I would cope with the new world.

What does "feeling comfortable" in your own skin mean to you?

For me, it's about being self-aware and self-confident. For anyone, their identity and natural persona are unique and work best for them at all times. I am a strong believer in seeking self-validation before seeking validation from anyone else.

Do you have any celebrity crush?

My most recent crush is Joey King from The Kissing Booth. From Indian celebrities, I like Aditi Rao Hydari a lot.

What has been your learning from this pandemic?

I realised how emotionally fragile we humans are while paving through the COVID times all alone in Mumbai, away from home. The importance of mental well-being is so understated in our society that it needs a lot more attention and we need to talk more about mental health as a community. I also learnt to be a better cook during the pandemic.
