Kahani Rubber Band Ki star Manish Rasinghan says ‘Even the biggest stars can’t assure you footfall at theatres, concept is the king; Exclusive!

The 2022 year has been the year of films with quality content and messages. Films that highlight problems with taboos in the nation are warmly received by the public. Kahani Rubber Band Ki, one of Sarika Sanjot's upcoming movies, will be released on October 14. Avika Gor, Pratik Gandhi, and Manish Raisinghan play the main characters in this comedy-drama. As the cast gears up for the release, Manish and Sarika joined Bollywoodmdb in an exclusive chat where they spoke openly about the film.

To choose such a concept and then to make people laugh about it. How hard was it for you to write and direct the film?

Sarika: We already knew what we wanted to do and our actors also supported us. They liked the concept and understood it which is why they could perform it very well.

Was there any special reason you chose the script and what went across your mind when you heard the story?

Manish: That one line which is ‘the person who buys condoms is not a coward but a gentleman’ is what caught my attention and it is a relatable problem. People always judge you when you go and buy a condom when actually a person who buys a condom is a gentleman who cares. I felt it was thought-provoking. And there is no film that has come out on such a topic. And like I have always said, I am an Ayushmann Khurrana fan, and he always chooses topics that have a message and puts it up in a way that also makes people laugh. So, when such a script came walking to my door how could I have said no?

How did you get Avika Gor on board with Manish once again, how did she react to the script?

Sarika: At first, we were not able to think about any female lead, then suddenly one day out of nowhere Avika’s name came out while talking. Then Manish told me we could try her so when he called her and said that she needs to come here and listen to the script, Avika immediately said you listen to the script and me listening to it is the same. And the next day when we discussed the script with her, she too loved it. And as you can see in the songs already released as well as in the movie you can see when these two appear together you automatically get a smile on your face. So, you can see the magic right there.

As we all know content is king nowadays and if people like the trailer, they definitely watch the film on whichever platform it is, do you think this is the right time to release the film?

Manish: Absolutely, right now they say that the biggest star cannot assure you footfall in the theatres, it’s all about the concept. After covid lockdown, people are more driven toward the story and this is a very organically told story.

Films with such topics are either a big hit or might be in the middle, so are you prepared for the audience’s response to the film?

Sarika: Yes, we are nervous because we have worked really hard for this film. I know that people will definitely watch the film with open hearts and also love the film. The film is not at all vulgar and you can watch it with your family too. We have got the U/A certificate from the board without any cuts. So, it is a very neat and pure film.
