On-screen romances frequently spill over into real life in Hollywood, causing headlines and fan hysteria. However, it appears that not everyone in the industry supports such off-screen romances. Amy Pascal, the producer behind the ‘Spider-Man’ franchise, has disclosed that when Tom Holland and Zendaya were cast as Peter Parker and MJ in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, she advised them against pursuing a real-life romance.

Amy Pascal, a former Sony executive and ‘Spider-Man’ series producer, didn't hold back when it came to giving her actors advice. She revealed in an interview with The New York Times that when they were first cast, she took both Tom Holland and Zendaya aside and gave them a stern "lecture" on the matter of dating each other in real life. She urged them, "Don't go there — just don't. Try not to."

Pascal's guidance did not end with Tom and Zendaya; she said that she had given similar advice to earlier Spider-Man co-stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, who appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man films. Pascal was concerned that on-set romances might complicate things.

The history of real-life romances amongst Spider-Man co-stars is fascinating. Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, who played Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson in Sam Raimi's 'Spider-Man' trilogy, had a brief affair while filming the first film. Raimi subsequently expressed concerns about their chemistry following their split, but remarked that it had no effect on their performances.

Similarly, when Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone were cast in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ reboot as Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy, their on-screen chemistry transferred into a real-life partnership. Garfield was overjoyed when Stone was cast and treasured their on-set and off-set interactions.

Andrew and Emma's romance, like Tobey and Kirsten's, ended with the publication of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ in 2015. Despite the breakup, Garfield remained a fan of Stone's work and professed his affection for her.

Zendaya and Tom Holland’s Relationship:

Tom Holland, the most recent Spider-Man suit wearer, met Zendaya during her screen test for the role of MJ in 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'. Despite years of denying romance rumours, their relationship took a turn in July when they were seen kissing in a car.

Holland revealed in a GQ cover story how the violation of their privacy was a drawback of their celebrity, as paparazzi photographed their private moments. Zendaya also stressed the importance of their love's sanctity and the desire to keep it private and personal.
