Marilyn Monroe’s biopic ‘Blonde’ is led by Ana de Armas. The makers recently released the trailer of the film. Many viewers raised issues with Ana’s accent; the actor is originally Cuban-Spanish and has a heavy accent in English. This is not the first time people have been sensitive to the representation of Marilyn. Kim Kardashian paid homage to Marilyn by wearing the icon's dress to the Met Gala and was brutally trolled on the internet for doing so. Many were offended by borrowing the dress from the Repliey's museum. Recently, the Marilyn Monroe Estate came to the actor's defence.

Marc Rosen, the president of entertainment at Authentic Brands Group which is the owner of the Marilyn Monroe Estate, stood up for Armas as he said “Any actor that steps into that role knows they have big shoes to fill.” Further adding "Marilyn Monroe is a singular Hollywood and pop culture icon that transcends generations and history." He praised Ana’s acting skills saying, "Based on the trailer alone, it looks like Ana was a great casting choice as she captures Marilyn’s glamour, humanity, and vulnerability. We can’t wait to see the film in its entirety."

The actor had recently opened up about the training she underwent to get into character. She shared to a news portal, "It only took me nine months of dialect coaching and practising, and some ADR sessions," and added, "It was a big torture, so exhausting. My brain was fried."
