Globally popular pop singers Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello have ended their relationship after more than two years of dating. On Wednesday, the duo shared on their Instagram Stories that they were no longer together in a joint statement.
“We have decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever,” they wrote.
“We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward,” the statement continued.
Cabello and Mendes first met in 2014 when she was a member of Fifth Harmony. The two were opening for Austin Mahone. They began dating each other in July 2019. They had collaborated before on the 2015 hit single I Know What You Did Last Summer. It was after the huge success of Señorita that the two finally announced that they were a couple.
During the coronavirus pandemic, Cabello and Mendes moved to Miami to be with the Cabello family and spent lockdown together.
The announcement of their separation has come as a complete shock for their fans as Cabello and Mendes appeared more in love than ever on Halloween with elaborate Day of the Dead costumes, less than 20 days ago.
