In a humorous and engaging TikTok video, Selena Gomez revealed a new cast member joining Only Murders In The Building for season three. Selena pointed the video at Paul Rudd, who was revealed to be the season three murder victim the previous year, while on set with her fellow actors Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Andrea Martin. The trailer stated that Only Murders In The Building season three would feature Oscar-winning performer Meryl Streep, indicating that filming had already begun. In the video, Meryl catches viewers off guard and emerges from behind the couch to inquire after the original trio of Steve, Martin, and Selena.

Meryl is shown interacting with the season three ensemble in the humorous video, but her inclusion in the season has not yet been confirmed as a guest or full-time role. The three occupants of the Upper West Side building Arconia, Charles (Steve), Oliver (Martin), and Mabel (Selena), wind up investigating murders in their New York City home in the award-winning series. At the conclusion of the season two finale last year, Paul was already identified as a cast member by the name of Ben Glenroy.
Selena posted a picture of Meryl and the cast in black and white and said, "Very, very grateful lady! onlymurdershulu hulu johnnyhoffman5 thank you for making this wanna be an unbelievably, absurdly happy human (sleeping symbol and cloud with sun emoticon)." Emily In Paris star Lily Collins wrote, "Yesssssssss (red heart emoticons)," while Selena's friend Nicola Peltz Beckham shared, "SO PROUD OF YOU!!! (red heart and crying emoji). A fan wrote, "ONLY LEGENDS IN THE BUILDING." The majority of the remarks on her post were from fans who were thrilled that Meryl would be appearing in the future season.
Meryl most recently appeared as the US president in the comedy Don't Look Up on Netflix (2021). Alongside Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon, she made an appearance in the 2019 season of the television show Big Little Lies. Adarsh Gourav, an Indian actor, and the three-time Emmy and Oscar winner will both appear in the Apple TV+ anthology series Extrapolations.
The Steve and John Hoffman-produced comedy-drama made its debut in August 2021. In June 2022, the second season made its debut. In India, the show is broadcast on Disney+ Hotstar.
