Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Rights not acquired confirmed PVR Pictures with ANN
PVR Pictures confirmed with ANN on Saturday that it has not yet secured the film rights for the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 anime film for India.
The company did not respond to ANN's request for comment to explain further but did state that it aims to bring more anime film releases to Indian theaters.
On March 13, the official Instagram account of PVR Cinemas posted an image confirming that the theatre chain will release Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie in India.
The post featured JJK 0 movie poster, alongside the posters of Morbius, Prithviraj, and RRR The sudden change took a bitter twist among the fans who wanted an explanation for the change of the most anticipated JJK 0 movie.
The film has sold a total of 9.07 million tickets for over 12.7 billion yen (about US$107 million) since it opened on December 24 and is currently the 21st highest-grossing film in Japan of all time, surpassing Disney's Aladdin and Hayao Miyazaki's The Wind Rises.
The film is based on Gege Akutami's Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Tokyo Toritsu Jujutsu Kōtō Senmon Gakkō (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School) manga prequel story, with MAPPA animating again and TOHO distributing. Megumi Ogata voiced the main character Yuta Okkotsu, and Kana Hanazawa voiced the character Rika Orimoto.
