Jenna Ortega's celebrity skyrocketed with the premiere of Netflix's ‘Wednesday’. Not only did the actress dazzle fans as the series' protagonist, but she also got the whole globe talking about her. Jenna once revealed about the stress she had when going to auditions, losing out on gigs, and not fitting to professional beauty standards, as her path was rather challenging for the young actress. Despite the fact that she was a kid actor, the Wednesday actress was stigmatised because she did not appear in a specific way.

The ‘Wednesday’ actress discussed her experience with blowback in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar. Jenna Ortega discussed her experiences growing up as a Hispanic child actor and the challenges she had in securing parts. "As a child actor, there are two jobs that you can get: you're either the younger version of someone or you're playing somebody's daughter, and there were just not many leading Hispanic actors who I could be that for," she said of her career.

She had a rough upbringing because she was born to Mexican and Puerto Rican parents. "A lot of the jobs I applied for as a kid would never work out because I didn't look [a certain] way. It was very difficult to hear that something you couldn't change was preventing you from succeeding," she continued. It was not the first time she encountered such criticism in the outset of her career; she was told what to do, which harmed her self-esteem and confidence. However, as she got older, Jenna accepted her physical characteristics and determined that none of this would ever prevent her from obtaining what she truly deserved.

Following the success of the first season, people lavished acclaim on the Netflix series. ‘Wednesday’, the Addams Family spin-off, was renewed by Netflix due to its success, establishing Jenna Ortega as a rising star. Season 2 will, however, be delayed owing to WGA strikes. The screenplay for season 2 was a key priority for Netflix and the creators, but because to the strikes, consumers may see 'Wednesday' season 2 in late 2024 or perhaps 2025.
