On Wednesday night, digital streaming giant HBO Max stunned its fans by introducing the first scripted television series based on the legendary Harry Potter novels. A special motion poster was used to make the announcement.
HBO Max shared a sneak glimpse of what's to come on their official Instagram account. They wrote, “Your Hogwarts letter is here. Max has ordered the first ever #HarryPotter scripted television series, a faithful adaptation of the iconic books. #StreamOnMax."

As soon as the motion poster was revealed, various social media users reacted to the news in the comments part of the post. While some were overjoyed, others urged the producers not to make a television series.
"Please, no, the movies are still too current." as well as the classic and legendary characters. "Don't do it. Invest in the vast wizarding world. Do a series on the marauders or Voldemort," one commenter said.
"WHY? We wanted to see more developed plots, not just a reboot with other actors. Daniel, Rupert, and Emma influenced an entire generation and are still remembered fondly by youngsters today. Another user commented, "This is the worst news you could give a fan."
"Really couldn't pick a different time period like idk Tom Riddles origin story or seeing how Lily and James came to be together?" another user asked. Why, for example, spoil a wonderful series? We already had the ideal talent in place for those classic parts."
J.K. Rowling stated in the Harry Potter TV adaptation, "HBO Max's commitment to preserving the integrity of my books is important to me." I'm excited to be a part of this new version, which will allow for a level of depth and richness only possible with a long-form television series."
The Harry Potter series will have a completely different cast from the films.
