Hailey Bieber was admitted to hospital last month as a result of an incident caused by a blood clot in her brain. While Hailey acknowledged her hospitalisation and provided a recovery update to fans on social media, the model later explained in clearly the ailment she suffered from and what caused it in a new YouTube video.
The 25-year-old model posted a new video on Instagram and her YouTube channel titled "telling my story." Hailey explained why she was hospitalised last month in the video, and she shared her experience with her fans. Explaining the "scary incident" that occurred on March 10, Hailey stated that she felt a strange sensation travel from her shoulder to her fingertips while having breakfast with her husband Justin Bieber. Hailey revealed that she had been unable to react to Justin after he questioned if she was okay after experiencing the strange sensation.
The model then described how the couple went to the emergency room, where she was questioned simple queries and also had a stroke test, which she failed. Hailey added “Basically, they did some scans and they were able to see that I suffered a small blood clot to my brain, called a TIA. It’s like having a mini-stroke. It feels like having a stroke, except my body was able to resolve it pretty quickly and then I didn’t have any more issues.
Hailey went on to say that she underwent more extensive testing at UCLA, where it was determined that the blood clot was caused by a combination of factors, including lately beginning with birth control pills, her previous COVID-19 diagnosis, and a long flight from Paris to Los Angeles in a short period of time with little movement.
In the clip, Hailey also explained how additional tests confirmed she had a Grade 5 PFO, necessitating a heart procedure. Hailey deduced in the video that she feels "great" and thanked all of the doctors and medical professionals who assisted her, saying “I will be able to just move on from this really scary situation and live my life.”
