BTS proved its dominance in the music world once again as the band scooped nine awards at the Mnet Asia Music Awards (MAMA), the annual celebration of K-pop, held on Saturday, December 11.
BTS swept all four grand prizes for the third year in a row: Song of the Year (Butter), Album of the Year (BE), Artist of the Year, and Worldwide Icon of the Year. In total, BTS walked away with nine trophies at 2021 MAMA. The band members were not in attendance at the glitzy ceremony. The theme of this year’s award ceremony was ‘Make Some Noise’.
Mnet Asia Music Awards was hosted by Lee Hyori. This was the first time that a female artist has hosted the annual awards show. The event took place at the new CJ Studio Center at the city of Paju, an hour away from Seoul.
Though the BTS crew were in quarantine, the boys did not miss the opportunity to thank their ARMY of die-hard fans. They dedicated awards to them in their acceptance speeches.
