Netflix hit British period drama series Bridgerton is all set to release their season 2. There is a big surprise for all the Indian fans of the series as this time we will also get to hear an Indian song. Can you guess which song are we talking about? When it comes to love stories we as Indians always look for Karan Johar’s movies, yes that right! Karan Johar has given the Netflix series one of his famous movie song Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’s title track.
Charithra Chandran, who plays Edwina Sharma on the show, is of Indian origin and recently called up the moment she learned that the K3G song would be featured on the show. Charithra, who spent a couple of years of her toddlerhood in India before returning to the UK, mentioned the moment as a collision of her two worlds. She recounted breaking down and instantly messaging show creator Chris Van Dusen after hearing the cover on the sets during a press conference on Monday.
According to the Daily Mail, Charithra said, “ For me, that song is a Bollywood staple so as soon as it came on, I was like, 'Hold on,' and then rewind and immediately pause and text Chris saying, 'This literally brought tears to my eyes because it's a collision of both my worlds.' When you're growing up as immigrants' children, sometimes it's so hard to figure out your identity and you don't always know where you belong.”
Bridgerton is based on Julia Quinn's series of the same name, which follows the eight Bridgerton siblings as they try to find love in Crown England. The first season had received over 82 millions of views globally. It was once Netflix's most-watched series until it was surpassed by the Korean thriller Squid Game. Its second season will be available on Netflix on March 25.
