Deepika Padukone debuted her way in Bollywood in Farah Khan’s 2007 film Om Shanti Om alongside Shah Rukh Khan. She captured the hearts of the audience with her first on-screen character Shanti Priya. There has been no looking back for her ever since. She went on to star in a number of blockbusters like Love Aaj Kal (2009), Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013), Piku (2015), Bajirao Mastani (2015) and many more flicks. After becoming one of the country's top stars, working in Hollywood projects, appearing in several prestigious magazines, and creating her own production company, the actress is now launching her own skincare line.
She will initially be launching five products which include a cleanser, toner, moisturiser, eye cream, and sunscreen. She revealed more facts about her lifestyle-hybrid-beauty brand, the motivation behind these items, and what else we may anticipate from her in the future in a recent interview with US-based beauty magazine Allure.
“All of the products will marry what we call a global ingredient with an Indian ingredient and bring the best of both together,” she tells Allure.
She said to the Allure magazine, “I wanted the products to reflect my journey and my experience. I’ve led this life of being — how do I say this? — extremely rooted, but at the same time I’ve also had a lot of exposure to the rest of the world. I think the line and the collection is an extension of that. For example, I’m not someone who wakes up and wears a sari every morning, but neither am I someone who wakes up and wears a suit every morning. I think that’s where the modern Indian woman is today. She can embrace the best of both worlds.”
She also told Allure that she is planning on launching candles, athleisure, and home decor. She adds, “I’ve always been fascinated by spaces, interiors, and that sort of thing.”
