Raveena Tandon Biography

Raveena Tandon after her brilliant performance in the film 'Mohra' was named as 'Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast' in the tinsel town. The actress who believes in giving her best in her every performance was recognized as one of the glamourous and talented actress in the Bollywood. Raveena Tandon, whose name is derived from her parents' names, is a popular actress, producer and model. Apart from working in Hindi films, she has appeared in many Telugu,Tamil and Kannada films.

Raveena was born on 26th October 1974 in Mumbai. Her father is famous filmmaker Ravi Tandon and her mother Veena Tandon is a homemaker. Raveena's name is a combination of her parents' first names. She went to Jamnabai Narsee School in Juhu and then went to Mithibai College. She studied her FY and SY there but then dropped out of the college to pursue her career in acting. Raveena has a brother named Rajeev and actress Rakhi Tandon is her sister in law. South Indian actress Kiran Rathod is her cousin and TV actors Vishal Singh and Reshma Singh are her cousins as well.

When Raveena was studying in college, Shantanu Sheorey gave her an offer for his film. She accepted that offer. Raveena's first film is 'Patthar Ke Phool' a box office hit. She got the Filmfare Lux New Face award for her performance in her first film. She was seen next in 'Mohra', 'Dilwale' and 'Laadla'. All these three films performed well at the box office and gave her recognition. Her next were 'Imtihaan' and 'Andaz Apna Apna'. The next two years went low for Raveena as her films could not perform well at the box office. She struck back in 1996 with her film 'Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi' and later with 'Ziddi'. Both the films were hits.

In the year 1998, Raveena appeared in total 8 films. Her 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' with Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda performed well at the box office. She turned down the offers for films like 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' and 'Dil To Pagal Hai' which are considered as the landmarks in the b-town. Her other releases of that year were 'Aunty No 1' ,'Pardesi Babu' ,'Vinashak' ,'Gharwali Baharwali' could not create the magic at the box office.

In 1999, she appeared in one Kannada film 'Upendra' which was a huge hit in South India and won many prominent awards. After that Raveena turned to the realistic cinema. She was seen in the films like 'Shool', 'Bulandi' , 'Aks', 'Daman' , 'Satta', 'Dobaara' etc. She got a wide applause for her outstanding performance in the films like 'Daman' , 'Aks' and 'Satta'. In 2003, Raveena turned producer and produced films 'Stumped' and 'Pehchaan'. Both the films performed poorly at the box office. She was recently seen in the film 'Sandwich' and 'Bbuddah - Hoga Terra Baap'.

Raveena adopted two girls as a single mother in 1995 named Pooja 11 and Chhaya 8. She got married to film distributor Anil Thadani in 2004 and the couple has 2 kids, Rasha a girl and Ranbir, a boy.
