Priya Anand Biography

We all have seen her in the movie 'English Vinglish' , Priya Anand is an Indian film actress who is prominently featured in the South Indian films. Born on 17th September 1986, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is a half Marathi and half Tamil girl. Her father is a Maharashtrian and her mother is Tamil. Because of a mix background, Priya is fluent in Marathi, Tamil and Telugu too. Besides these languages, the brilliant actress is proficient in English, Hindi, Bengali and Spanish as well. The self declared 'hyperactive' girl was fond of cinema since her childhood. So she always dreamt of being in the film industry. Keeping this in mind, she opted for the course of 'Communications and Journalism' at the University of Albany. After returning to India in 2008, she started doing modeling and did many commercial advertisements.

After seeing her in the commercials, various directors approached her for film offers. She made her debut through a Tamil film 'Vaamanan' . Later she worked in many south Indian projects.

In 2011, she made her debut in Hindi with the film 'English Vinglish' with Sridevi. This film is considered as Sridevi's comeback movie. The film was a success and people appreciated Priya's performance in the movie.

Currently she is working on few south Indian projects and one Hindi film ,'Fukrey' being directed by Mrigdeep Singh Lamba also starring Pulkit Sharma and Vishakha Singh.
