Dia Mirza Biography

The girl with a beautiful smile and innocent eyes Dia Mirza Handrich is one of the talented actresses in the tinsel town. She hails from Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. Dia's parents are Frank Handrich , a German interior designer and a Bengali Hindu Deepa. Her mother married Ahmed Mirza after the death Frank Handrich when the Dia was very young. Thus Dia adopted Mirza as her surname. The beautiful actress was born on 9th December 1981.

Dia did her schooling from Vidyaranya High School in Hyderabad. She also went to Nasr School and did further studies at Stanley Junior College. She did her graduation from Andhra Pradesh Open University. Dia started her career at very young age of 16 years. She worked as a marketing executive for one company. She then shifted to modeling for print and electronic media. The fair beauty worked in the commercial advertisements for Walls,Lipton and Emami. She then took part in the famous Femina Miss India contest in 2000. She came up as a 2nd runner up. She then won the title of Miss Asia Pacific in the same year. She is also a winner of the title Miss Beautiful Smile. Her talent was recognized by Bollywood and she got a big break in the Hindi film 'Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein' with R. Madhavan. The film was not a big success , but youngsters loved the movie.

Recently Dia along with her boyfriend Sahil Sangha and friend Zayed Khan opened a production house named as the Born Free Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. Their first film was 'Love BreakUps Zindagi' got critical appreciation.

Dia is involved in many philanthropic activities and humanitarian causes. She is a animal lover, a socialist and environment conservationist too. This has earned her lots of awards. She works for spreading awareness about female infanticide, HIV . She is associated with PETA, CRY and the Cancer Patients Aid Association.
