    Ayan Mukherjee Biography

    Ayan Mukherjee is one among the rising directors of Bollywood who directed the successful first movie 'Wake up Sid' at the age of 26.

    Ayan Mukherjee is the son of Bengali Actor Deb Mukherjee and nephew of Joy Mukherjee. He is the first cousin of Kajol and Tanisha Mukherjee and second cousin to Rani Mukherjee.

    Ayan was born on 24th August 1983 in Kolkata. Ayan started his film career by assisting ace directors like Ashutosh Gowarikar for 'Swades'and Karan Johar in 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna'. Ashutosh Gowarikar is his brother-in-law, . He took a break from film-making and meanwhile, developed a script of 'Wake Up Sid' and offered it to Karan Johar, who was sure to make it a film. The film released in 2009 and starred Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Sen Sharma in pivotal roles. It was warmly received by audience and critics as well.

    Mukherjee is set with his next upcoming venture, again under Dharma Productions and is titled 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani'. It will star Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone as a lead pair.
