Salman Khan and Kabir Khan’s third collaboration film Tubelight released worldwide on June 23, Eid extended weekend. The film has garnered mixed response from the audience as well as the critics, it does not carry a positive word of mouth amongst the regular cine goers. Eid festivities could not help Tubelight to pick up and it raked in average numbers at the box-office.
Salman Khan and Matin Rey TanguThe much talked about film raked in Rs. 21.15 crores on Friday, Rs. 21.17 crores on Saturday, Rs. 22.45 crores on Sunday and further it brought in 19.09 crores on first Monday (Eid Holiday). Hence, the 4 day total stands at Rs. 83.86 crores. The movie will take a day or two to cross the 100-crore mark at the domestic box-office.
Tubelight directed by Kabir Khan is currently the only big film running at the theatres. The film has acquired over 4000+ screens and hence the makers and trade experts are assuming a steady week. Considering it’s a Salman Khan film, the collections are not impressive but, the film has managed to become the 6th highest grosser of 2017 in just 4 days! Soon it will climb up the ladder beating SRK’s Raees which is Bollywood’s highest grosser of 2017 making approx. Rs. 139 crores at the domestic front.
The film also stars Sohail Khan, Zhu Zhu, Matin Rey Tangu, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and late Om Puri. It is a period based heart-warming story of unconditional brotherly love, set at the backdrop of Indo-China war.
