Bollywood was relieved by ‘Pathaan's’ huge numbers prior to ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’. ‘Selfiee’ by Akshay Kumar and ‘Shehzada’ by Kartik Aaryan both miserably underperformed at the film office this year. TJMM's Holi release was met with both positive and negative reviews from critics and viewers. But, since there hasn't been a Hindi rom-com available for a while, audiences are loving the movie in theatres. The songs have already topped the charts and have significantly contributed to drawing crowds to theatres.

‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’, starring Ranbir Kapoor, became the second Indian film to earn ₹100 crore worldwide after Brahmastra. The Shraddha Kapoor and Luv Ranjan-directed film had a successful weekend opening, earning Rs 6.03 crore. The amount is almost a 100% increase from its Friday take. It is anticipated to perform similarly on Sunday as well, before the daily slump sets in.
The four new movies ‘Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway’, ‘Zwigato’, ‘Shazam! Fury Of The Gods’, and Kabzaa that were released this week will now be competing with ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’.
