Bollywood's most bankable talent, Akshay Kumar, who was once regarded as such, has recently had trouble at the box office. The performer had a terrible year in 2022 with back-to-back underwhelming movies. So when he returned to the theatres with Selfiee, supporters had high expectations. But despite having Emraan Hashmi in it, the spicy comedy hasn't been able to draw audiences to the theatres. This movie performed poorly at the box office, similar to Akshay's recent offerings.
One of the most eagerly anticipated movies of the year was Selfiee, the Hindi version of the Kerala film Driving License. It didn't, however, have much of an impact.
Fans anticipated more attendance over the weekend after a lacklustre inaugural day. But it also failed to make money on Saturday. Early figures indicate that the movie only made between 2.50 and 3.50 crore rupees.
After its startlingly poor box office performance, many specialists have already declared the movie a failure. Film critic and industry expert Taran Adarsh called the movie's opening day take "disastrous" on Saturday.
He tweeted: "Selfiee has a disastrous Day 1... Sends shock waves throughout the industry... One of the lowest starts for a film that has several prominent names attached to it... Fri Rs 255 cr+ India biz."

The Akshay-starring film was made by Star Studios, Magic Frames, Prithviraj Productions, Cape of Good Films, and Karan Johar's Dharma Production.
