Directed by celebrated filmmaker SS Rajamouli, the epic period action drama RRR has set the domestic box office on fire. The film has been doing terrific business not only in India but also at the global box office.
The makers on Wednesday announced that the film has collected ₹611 crore worldwide in gross figures.
Produced by D V V Entertainment, RRR hit the marquee on March 25 in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
According to the makers, the film has netted ₹474 crore at the domestic box office. The Hindi dubbed version alone has earned ₹107 crore.
The big-budget spectacle drama, set in the 1920s, stars Ram Charan and N T Rama Rao Jr in lead roles. The duo plays real-life Indian revolutionaries Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. In addition to them, the film also features Bollywood stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in extended cameos.
The film was theatrically released across the globe last week in IMAX, IMAX 3D, 3D, and Dolby Sound. It was originally scheduled for its theatrical bow on July 30, 2020, but was delayed several times due to the coronavirus pandemic.
After the huge success of RRR, SS Rajamouli is set to begin work on his next directorial venture which will feature Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu in the lead role.
