Bejoy Nambiar 's ' Wazir ' starring Farhan Akhtar and Amitabh Bachchan in the lead witnessed a decent first weekend box-office collections. There was not enough buzz around the film prior to its release, and also, it was not promoted widely. The movie, considering its genre, targeted niche audience. The film made Rs. 5.61 crores on its opening Friday, and witnessed a growth on Saturday with Rs. 7.16 crores. The movie collected Rs. 8.24 crores on Sunday, making its total collection stand at Rs. 21.01 crores at the domestic front.

The movie has a positive word of mouth and, has received mixed reviews from the critics. The revenge saga has been ideally released without clashing with any other big film and, enjoys the advantages of being a big solo release through its first week, which in turn will profit its collections. The movie also stars Aditi Rao Hydari , Manav Kaul , Neil Nitin Mukesh , and John Abraham among others.
